Minority Business Alliance (October 2007)

CEO of Vyalex Management Solutions, Al Leandre, and Program Manager, Bob Jackson share a special moment during the MBA kickoff meeting.

The Minority Business Alliance (MBA) is a nonprofit membership organization in St. Mary’s County with a 23 year history of fostering support for the development and growth of small and minority owned businesses. In October of 2007, spearheaded by a women-owned small business, C&M Solutions, MBA reinvigorated its membership by holding a kickoff meeting. VMS was not only requested to participate in the kickoff, but also to have its CEO Al Leandre speak and represent the organization. This request was made to recognize VMS as a prominent and exemplary MBE (Minority Business Enterprise) in the tri-county area. As well, the invitation and event affirmed the formal teaming of C&M Solutions with Vyalex Management Solutions.

St. Mary Rocket Launch Program (Summer 2007)

During 2007, Vyalex supported the Great Mills High School Robotics Club as a sponsor for the club’s winning representatives of the Summer Rocket Launch Program of St. Mary’s County on their trip to the international competition in Hawaii. These events took on a special meaning as Vyalex is teaming with the Morgan State University School of Engineering in various projects that reach out to local High School students in the Tri County Areas of Southern Maryland to help foster their interests in science and engineering. These projects include: the Academic Training Management Office (ATMO), a pre-college feeder school program; the summer institute of robotics program, for inspiration and recognition of science and technology robotics; the Maryland Junior Science and humanities symposium; and the pre-freshmen accelerated curriculum in engineering (PACE). Vyalex sees the responsibility and opportunity in helping to encourage the next generation of inventors and innovators.

Aerospace Workforce Summit (2006)

In 2006 Vyalex had the pleasure of participating in the Aerospace Workforce Summit (AWS). The AWS is a brainchild of the Aerospace Steering Committee. The Governor's Workforce Investment Board's Aerospace Steering Committee has been meeting for the past two and a half years and is comprised of industry, government, and the educational entities invested in Maryland's aerospace system.

The Aerospace Steering Committee has engaged a broad range to participate in various forums. Their primary goals are to determine how to enhance the education system's ability to inspire young people to enter careers in science and technology, and sustain them during their education careers. Vyalex was proud to take part in the 2006 AWS as an industry representative.

Patuxent River Naval Air Museum Association Capital Campaign (2007)

As a part of the Capital Campaign for the New Patuxent River Naval Air Museum, Vyalex pledged a Silver level of Sponsorship towards the project. The association’s campaign is currently only $300K short of the $1.5MM contribution goal. Other contributors toward the project include the State of Maryland, the Navy, and St. Mary’s County. These contributions go toward the building and completion of the new museum. Ribbon cutting is set for spring of 2009. The theme of the new location will be to display the testing lifecycle of new aircraft technology to patrons. Each model in the museum is an actual tested version of equipment. Vyalex is excited to be part of the museum’s family of contributors.
